Read this primer on how our merch store works.
Adding new products
Kendal/Judy own Merch and you should let them know about new additions to the store for approval before adding in items.
Create the product in Shopify
After you've discussed your merch idea with Kendal/Judy, you should create the product on Shopify.
- Give the product a name
- Description appears when the product sidebar is opened
- Add photos
- Set the product category
- Set the product status to Active
- For sales channels, make sure it's available in Shop, Headless PostHog Merch Store, and Shopify GraphQL API.
- Set the price
- Uncheck Track quantity as this is handled through the Brilliant API.
- Under Metafields, add a Product subtitle. This appears in the index view for the product.
- Save the product
Running the merch store locally
You'll need to set environment variables to source products from Shopify and build the merch store.
We don't include these by default as sourcing the products from Shopify takes an absurd amount of time. Ask the
Product Fulfillment
We used to rely on Brilliant for fulfillment, that has been deprecated, we now use Micromerch. You should notify Micromerch of any new products that you want to add to the store as they handle distribution and storage for most things and are connected to Shopify.
